Daisy's Rose

$545.00

2023 | acrylic on canvas | 14x18inches

I was inspired from a quote out of American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’:

”…You remind me of an a- of a rose, an absolute rose. Doesn’t he?” She turned to Miss Baker for confirmation: “An absolute rose?” This was untrue. I am not even faintly like a rose. She was only extemporizing, but a stirring warmth flowed from her, as if her heart was trying to come out to you concealed in one of those breathless, thrilling words. (F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, pg. 14)

Daisy’s Rose brings the literalness of an exaggerated rose - one that doesn’t necessarily resemble a rose. The colors symbolize the American dream from the 20s era. The background represents the city lights of New York City in the Great Gatsby.

*For fans of the novel: yellow is for Jay Gatsby’s yellow car, the pink represents his “pink suit”

Special Details:

  • varnished with a transparent, protective finish
